Our Campaign

Campaign Mission

  • Our mission is to improve the nutrition children receive through public programs and at home so they can learn more, be healthier and better achieve their goals.

Campaign Importance

  • Good nutrition is the foundation of good health. It can eliminate diseases influenced by western diets such as diabetes, hypertension, and some cancers.
  • Good nutrition not only helps children's health and learning but also improves executive function--their the ability to set goals and achieve them.
  • Good nutrition is also critical to supporting a healthy ecosystems and reversing the damage of commercial farming and animal husbandry.

Campaign Elements

  • Change the accepted public health nutrition standards to embrace “real food” and reject fad diets and dietary advice based on faulty science.  Real food is food produced as close to home as possible.  It is minimally processed--free of chemicals and chemical processing that deplete foods of their natural beneficial nutrients.  
  • Educate legislators and the public about the importance of promoting “real food” as a way to protect the health of our children and our nation.
  • Inform legislators of the need to increase funding for public nutrition programs so that those programs can offer real food to the millions of low income children they serve every day (programs like National School Lunch and Breakfast, Food Stamps, and Child Care Food Program).
  • Investigate and help correct institutionalized discrimination that discourages children from benefiting from public nutrition programs.  It does not matter how good our programs are if children are shamed into not using them.
  • Provide parents with easy to follow and accurate information about how to improve their family health through a diet of real food.
  • Raise awareness about the unavailability of real food at common grocery outlets and encourage businesses to provide healthier, less processed foods.
