the real ingredients for better health

Our Philosophy

Nutrition forms the base for childhood learning and health, and can provide strong threads in the fabric that knits families and communities together.

Poor nutrition decreases the ability of children to benefit from their education. It inhibits working memory, attention, the ability to set goals or correctly evaluate options and prioritize. At CBN, we believe that nutritious food is key to a healthy childhood and a productive adulthood.

Campaign for Better Nutrition operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Community Initiatives, a nonprofit organization created by The San Francisco Foundation.

Campaign Mission

Our mission is to improve the nutrition children receive through public programs and at home so they can learn more, be healthier and better achieve their goals
.

We are accomplishing this by educating legislators, parents and the general public on the importance of nutritious food in protecting the health of our children and our nation as well as on improvements needed in the public system through which food is made available to people with low incomes.  We are raising awareness on food security and social justice issues in the lunchroom as well as in the dining room.

Campaign Partners -- Join Us!

If you are a professional with experience in promoting real food, marketing, researching or fundraising and have time to volunteer, we can use your help.  CBN benefits from the talents and time of many people who share our goals. We limit the amount of time we spend on fundraising so we can spend more time on our mission, which means that we need people like you to join our volunteer staff!

CBN is a community organization and needs your support in time and dollars.  Whether you can donate $5 or $5000, your support helps show the broad base of support we have for our mission and projects.  Please visit our DONATE page for more information.
